As Melbourne delivered one of its trademark Four Season's in a Day, TRT's Staff and Clients enjoyed an action packed 4 days of qualifying and racing at the 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix culminating in the current Formula 1 world champion Jensen Button producing his maiden win for new team McLaren.
Located on the main straight, right in front of the big screen and just 30 metres from the start/finish line Team TRT was in perfect position to relax and enjoy all the events of the weekend as they played out.
From the traditional celebrity race, through the Formula 1 practice sessions, qualifying on Saturday, the V8 Supercar races and the main race itself in the twilight of Sunday afternoon the event is "jam packed" with wall to wall racing. Any dead-time on the track is filled with aerial displays including the RAAF Roulettes, RAAF F-18 fly over and the spectacular Australian Army Blackhawk Helicopter display.
The highlight of the weekend was definitely the race. It was overcast and a little humid at times, but that was refreshing (considering it was meant to be 31). There was a little drizzle throughout the day and the big rains looked set to appear at 5pm (right on race time), says Cameron Huysmans Senior BDM with TRT.
"Fortunately the big rains held off and the race was run with light and intermittent falls making for a very challenging race which engaged the crowd right up until the last few laps" added Cameron Huysmans
From an Australian perspective the race held great anticipation that Red Bull's Australian driver Mark Webber would be able to take out his inaugural Australian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Team qualified 1 & 2 on the grid and expectation was high that a "crowd favourite" result could occur. However Mark Webber's run of bad luck at his home Grand Prix continued and Jensen Button was able to come from 4th on the grid to win the race followed by Robert Kubica in the Renualt and Felipe Massa in the Ferrari.
Now in its 15th year, the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix is a cornerstone of the Australian Sporting calendar. TRT staff and clients have been going to the event for the last 5 years and it has become one of the main annual TRT client/staff social events.
Throughout the year, TRT organise a number of client events to thank clients for their support and get our customers and crew together in a relaxed atmosphere." Says Andrew Charos, National Sales Manager for TRT.
"The events are a break from the daily pressures of work, there are no sales presentations and no formalities at all. It's purely a chance for everyone to get together, have some fun and experience something new outside of the usual business relationship." continues Andrew Charos.
In the past we've experienced Seafood Cooking Classes, Rugby League action, Coffee Classes, MasterChef classes and of course the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. In the coming months we have a series of new and exciting events planned which we hope clients will embrace and enjoy.
With the global expansion occurring over the last 12 months, TRT has extended its Formula 1 events to those countries in which TRT has recently opened offices. This year we will be hosting events in Malaysia, Germany, Belgium, Singapore and Brazil. With each of these events the staff are looking forward to extending the great tradition that has been started at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
